Purpose and Vision…as A Lifestyle
What bother me is how many people are doggedly committed to the idea that they have to accept work, people and situations that they don’t like.
Yes, there is obligation and responsibility built into everyday life that is sometimes tough to sidestep which is why my petition is not that everyone should just be everywhere, all will-nilly, disregarding commitments - it’s to do both - with the secret agenda of gradually doing more of what you love as a mission and pratice.
I am a wife and mom of 5 and I have a full-time job. And full-time bills.
One day, it occured to me that I could not just up and live the new vision I’d seen for my life.
That is where I think that most people give up. The thought of having a vision, and being excited about that vision - and then looking around at “real” life…trying to figure out how are they going to get from here to there.
For me, the logistics of growing a business, doing things that I love, and leaving the corporate hustle - while having a family with more needs and wants than a small village - was going to require Jesus to come into my office and turn my Smartwater into wine, write my resignation letter and make my business successful - all in day.
I couldn’t see ME doing all of that under that much pressure.
So I gave up, plenty of times, in plenty of ways - for plenty of years.
Because How?
This is what low-key plagues many of us and here’s what I know… there is no easy way.
Your desire for it to be easy to live in your purpose is the problem.
In a world that wants you to install yourself into its agenda, you have to be ready to fight and not care about losing.
People, in this world, who demand to live life on their own terms, are not normal, regular and can be downright hated for it.
While you and I are not embarking on a journey that would garner extreme hate or judgement - there’s still a fight.
Oh, no! Not from external people and things…but the inner battle of worthiness, believing that you can, should and have to…over and over again…day in, day out.
That is the biggest fight.
Do you believe that you can live a life where you are fully loaded into your purpose - doing things that you enjoy - on purpose and with purpose - and still pay all the bills and be who you need to be for the people that you love?
Well, that’s the assignment.
